A pair of f. barbedienne ormolu candlesticks in a very unusual form of oil lamps after the antique. the candlestick holder is to the front where the taper would have been and has a male mask to the front. the oil resevoir has a lid decorated with a male mask with his tongue sticking out. the handle is in the form of a bird with a long neck that is trying to peck the grotesque's tongue. both lamps are fully signed f. barbedienne around the rim of the base.
circa 1880 france.
5.2 inches wide by 2.75 inches high ( 13 cms by 7 cms).
