A novelty bronze table cigar lighter formed an obelisk 'cleopatra's needle' to commerate the arrival in london of the obelisk (january 1878) presumably this was a shop fitting or for use in a public space as it would be connected into a gas main and the flame would be on for a period of time until turned off at tap on the top of the obelisk.

cleopatras needle - london 1878 ad - erected by thorhmes iii - heliopolis 1700 bc
with design registry mark for december 1877
