item details
A very attractive pair of antique french empire urns in patinated bronze. set upon square bases with leaf and dart moulding to the rectangular plinth set to the front with an applied mount of a berribonned acanthus wreath. the socle is well decorated at the foot.
the body of the urns themselves are of a very elegant shape, slightly waisted and then flared to the top, the edge of which is milled. the cup holding the body of the urn is deeply gadrooned and to each side is a fine ram's head handle terminating in a single forget-me-not flower. above the cup is a very fine horizontal decoration of leaf and dart between beading. the urns are in untouched condition and of a superb colour, a rich brown somewhat discoloured in places by years of waxing ( the discolouration is easily removed if required). circa 1820.
