A magnificent english boulle clock of tortoiseshell inlaid with engraved brass and pewter, original gilding to finials, capitals and bases and also to the dial plate. the case in the form of a louis ivx "religieurse" clock. the roman hour chapters painted in blue are individual cartouches of white enamel on copper bases. the minutes are individually engraved in a concentric circle beyond the hour cartouches. the hands are beautifully cast and finished by hand. superb english 8 day movement with twin chain fusees and striking on a bell and regulated by a large bob pendulum. the backplate signed chas. frodsham, to the queen, 84 strand and numbered 1390, the same signature in full is on the dial plate above 6 oclock.
