item details
A quite rare 1950's matching pair of capo di monte porcelain figures of children fruit sellers, she has a basket of mushrooms and he is selling grapes. both are signed on the underside with the official capo di monte mark and both are signed by the artist, volta. they are in perfect condition apart from a tiny chip on the girl's basket, just visible on the photo. height 8 inches, 20 cms.
the crown and n in blue is found on most capo-di-monte models, usually in addition to a backstamp or factory mark or name. the crown and n is not fully protected and as the name capo-di-monte now can indicate a "style of capo-di-monte". it is most important that connoisseurs only collect models from the handful of best factories and look for the backstamp that indicates the figure's pedigree.
