| An unusually small orientalist ormolu clock. Made in France circa 1823-5 this lovely little clock depicts an Ottoman woman in elaborate head-dress holding a bow and quiver leaning on a pillow strewn couch. The base of the clock has a fine moulding decorated with Amthemion and the clock has superb bracket feet. The movement is now a superb quality English watch movement by one of the most famous English makers John Ellicott of London and numbered 7978 and has a beautiful backcock.8.5 inches high ( 21 cms). |
